Fumihiko Maki to be awarded 2011 AIA Gold Medal
The 82–year–old Japanese architect and acclaimed professor, Fumihiko Maki, will become the 68h recipient of the prestigious award, handed out by the American Institute of Architects. Maki, who is also a Pritzker Prize laureate (1993), founded his firm — Maki and Associates — nearly half a century ago, and is currently overseeing the construction of Tower 4 at the most prestigious building site in the U.S., the World Trade Center.
